For our curatorship task we have to create a portfolio of artists following a theme. It's a personal study which allows us to express and create montages of our favourite artists.

Below are 3 of my photographic heroes, they inspire my photography visually and influence my work. There are many more artists that influence my shown in my mind map as I explored themes of architecture, surrealism, urban environment, colour and geometry; mostly within architecture. Although not all of my photographic heroes may directly relate, they produce inspiration and ideas for my final curatorship task, helped by my brainstorm of various artists.

Many of the artists in this mind map influence my work, helping to develop my ideas to a final theme. They all link closely or have similar ideas, or aspects of their work that I'd like to use.

The theme for my final exhibition is going to focus on urban architecture and coloured structures within cities. I'm going to do this by using different aspects of the intertwined themes to create a multifaceted theme to express my interests. This includes using colours and structures through architectures in landscapes by taking inspiration from some of the artists in the mind map above.

Michael Wolf's work inspires me due to the immense scale of his photography, which includes great detail and colour. Wolf is a German artist and photographer who lives and works in Hong Kong and Paris, his work focuses on the life in big cities. I chose Michael Wolf as one of the photographers to inspire my work because he explore large cities in a more abstract way as he uses colour. The perspective also intrigues me as his work is on such a large scale however, every detail is seen, and yet still only the building is captured int he frame. I also thought his work would be good inspiration as I am focusing on urban areas and cities and he takes his photos in big, busy cities, which would express much of the urban architecture I desire to capture.

Marcus Lyon explores the ideas of globalisation and expansion in the world. The evolution of these urban spaces defines today’s global economy. the world saw the irreversible shift from a global majority of rural dwellers to a new army of urban residents. Mass urbanisation trends predict that the world’s urban population will double. This links to my theme of the urban environment, as architecture increases, as does the global population, creating more diverse communities and structures within these expanding cities. Marcus Lyon's work gives me inspiration for my curatorship task as the immensity of urban architecture and the diversity within such a large scale allows urban exploration.

Jared Lim travels and takes photos of urban environment and landscapes. I used him as inspiration as he focuses on architecture, mainly up close, but detailed work. I like how he incorporates colour into his work as it makes certain aspects stand out, this is something I want to achieve in my future work as it makes the architectural concept much more interesting and abstract. Additionally, he uses a variety of perspectives and colours, shooting in the day and night to capture specific colours and angles. This work influences me as it consists of the colour, abstract concept i wanted to include in my urban architecture theme.

Andreas Gursky is a German photographer and professor at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, Germany. He is known for his large format architecture and landscape colour photographs, often employing a high point of view. I used him as inspiration as he uses big blocks of colour in landscape format, as well as incorporating very detailed, face forwarding buildings in great quality. The movement can actually been seen in the window and every aspect is outlined and contrasts to emphasise the urban architecture at night. I like the use of his large format work at he manages to capture many aspects of the environment in it, this is seen in the buildings aspect as well as his work consisting of large structural colour.

After seeing the problems that came alongisde globalisation and the many issue it has caused with housing and communities, many slutions rose to facing the difficulties revealed by marcus lyon and the slums and the overcrowding populations and its affect on the environment, and in turn how this changed the buildings of this time. One was the housing problems were faced was by creating large high rse blocks of flats and oher types of high rise accomodation that loom over cities.
